It’s September, and the city of Bath is playing host to the annual Jane Austen Festival, a celebration of the famous author and her works.

Rose Wallace, Bath resident and avid Jane Austen fan, can’t wait for her friends to arrive and the Festival to start, unaware one of the recently arrived guests will turn her life upside down by sharing with her a secret that ultimately puts Jane Austen’s entire literary legacy at risk.

With the support of a displaced two hundred year old author and a charmed necklace, can Rose help to bring back some of the most beloved stories of all time and turn her own life around in the process?

The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen edition by Ada Bright Cass Grafton Romance eBooks

Have you ever bonded with somebody over a shared love of Jane Austen? If so, you're gonna love this book. I can't remember last when I was so intrigued by a story that I stayed up into the middle of the night only to wake early to pick up where I left off. If you've read the synopsis you have an overview for the story but there's so much more to this jewel. Enjoy a mystery? There's a very cleverly plotted one right here. Into time travel? Yup, a bit of that, too, crafted with all the humor and intelligence to make this a page turner. Are you a romance fan? (That would be me!) There is sweet romance woven through the story like a ribbon on a regency bonnet. The story clips right along from the first paragraph and you are treated to the sights and sounds of Bath in the midst of a Jane Austen Festival and the beauty of a deep friendship between an extrovert American and an introvert Brit who appreciate exactly how special their relationship is. This story is sparkly and fun with just a few bittersweet moments to squeeze your heart. I absolutely loved it.

The Particular Charm of Miss Jane Austen edition by Ada Bright Cass Grafton Romance eBooks Reviews

I just finished this incredible story and I could probably write a more coherent review if I let my emotions settle a bit, but I loved it so much that I felt the need to say so right away!

I am notoriously spoiler-free in real life, so I won't give any plot points away in my review. Suffice it to say, if you love Jane Austen and if her works and life have made an impact on your own, then you will absolutely love this story. Beautifully written, humorous and heartwarming, original and thought-provoking, Ada Bright and Cass Grafton take their readers on a journey through Bath and the annual Jane Austen Festival - so real that one feels as if they have experienced it first-hand.

This is a story of friends brought together and influenced by the life and works of Jane Austen, and what would happen in an alternate time where Jane Austen never published her works or became known the world over. We get to meet Jane Austen herself, and it is obvious that Ms. Bright and Ms. Grafton know and love her dearly with the voice they have given her here. There is a scene set in Chawton Cottage that moved me to tears, so exquisite in its reflection of Jane's last years there with her beloved sister, Cassandra.

The loving bond between the Austen sisters, unbreakable by time or death, and the bonds of friendship that have been formed between 'Janeites' for centuries after, are a running theme in this beautiful book. I found myself examining my own life and experiences and wondering where I would be today in a world where Jane Austen was never known. I'm so glad I will never know the answer. But that's not to say Ms. Bright and Ms. Grafton don't give their readers a delightful, humorous romp and a real page-turner (I couldn't put it down!) in their imagining of what that world would look like. There are plenty of giggles at the lost pop culture references and celebrities related to Jane Austen's legacy and also a true sense of mourning for what the world and history would have missed.

This novel is a true homage to Jane Austen, showing so clearly why her works, her letters and her life have endured for centuries and inspired so many, that more and more people each year come together to celebrate her impact on the world and their own lives. It's also a testament to the power of friendship and the courage it gives to live the life of your dreams without regret, thankful for the technology and the twists of fate that bring special people into your life. Of the hundreds of stories that I have read over the years inspired by Jane Austen and/or her characters, this one will stay with me forever.
Wow congratulations to you both Cass and Ada on your wonderful and enduring friendship. Also a huge congratulations on a wonderfully entertaining, charming, and enchanting novel.
I adored reading about a favourite place of mine in the whole world, Bath! Your novel brought back fond memories of my brief visit and I could reminisce about my own trip to the beautiful city. I envy you both being able to share your love of Jane Austen and Bath together.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Rose's love of all things Jane Austen and how she set up her life in her beloved Bath. It was so whimsical having Jane Austen in amongst your story. At first I thought it might just be a passing fantasy on Rose's part wishing Jane Austen to be accessible but boy was I wrong!
Morgan had me laughing so many times! But Jane's reaction to her was classic 'Revolutionary' haha fabulous!
I was in utter suspense for Rose being transported however Jane's easy calm kept things in perspective. Heaven forbid that Jane did not write her brilliant novels! My life would not be the same either!
Dr Aiden Trevellyan was perfectly dreamy! And James was adorable.
A huge congratulations on writing this amazing story. It is definitely a favourite I will enjoy reading again. Highly recommended!
Have you ever been so engrossed in a story that you forget to eat, care for your children or even forgo general hygiene? If not, then you haven’t read a novel quite like this one.

My love affair with books began at a very young age when an unsuspecting hobbit in Middle Earth was visited one evening by an old wizard friend and a clan of hirsute dwarves. Since that time, stories had but one job for me… to whisk me away to new and fantastic worlds where I could fall in love with dashing heroes and become immersed in someone else’s imagination. The Particular Charm of Jane Austen does this one job extremely well. I was taken in by the story from the very beginning, and as I met the genuinely likable heroines and thud-worthy leading men, the mystery and delicious details of the setting kept me spellbound until the very last word. The secondary characters were so incredibly realistic and charming that I honestly could not put the book down until I finished the story, and it left me aching to actually take a bite of a delectable morsel from Tara’s Tarts & Teacakes.

Although I have never physically been to Bath or to the Jane Austen Festival, after reading this novel, I feel like I have experienced the generosity of the town and the delightful company of friends and co-admirers of Miss Austen. It emphasized for me just how essential her works of literature are to not only the world, but to myself on a personal level. I highly recommend this book for any Jane Austen, Regency, or book lover. Thank you, dear authors, for this story, and I look forward to the sequel. <3
